With coffee in hand, it was back to the room for a little more work and the dreaded task of packing. While we would be doing self-assist disembarkation, we still wanted to get things packed and organized before heading out for the evening. On another day, the printed schedule was missing part four of a four-part show, which did show up on the agenda in the app. One afternoon later in the sailing, two different crew members approached me a total of six times in less than half an hour while I was having lunch on the Lido deck.

Nearby, you’ll find foosball tables as well as cornhole boards and bags. Guests will find something in the theater every night, usually with two showings to accommodate early and late dining.

Now, it was time to check out the Summer Landing zone aft on Deck 8. This zone features the Patio Pool along with a couple whirlpools. Guy’s Pig & Anchor is also located here, along with the outdoor Watering Hole bar. This bar serves up a small signature menu, with drinks like the Lynchburg Lemonade and Watermelon Crush.
I was one of just three non-employees on Carnival Cruise Line's new Carnival Jubilee, the third ship in the line's Excel Class, which gives a nod to some of the brand's original vessels. The delivery event was attended by Christine Duffy, Ben Clement, Jan Meyer, as well as the ship’s senior officers. The pool sits below a giant movie screen, and films are shown occasionally throughout the cruise. The Currents Zone (midship-aft on decks 6 and 7) changes from day to night and also throughout the current voyage. It is fitted with 6x large LED screens (serving as windows) and a wave-shaped LED ceiling for UHD media projections. Bar (serving ocean-themed and color-changing beverages, including cocktails and shots) and The Golden Mermaid Lounge (serving specialty cocktails and having a stage for live band music performances).
While this option adds variety to the dining lineup, we are glad that it’s complimentary because we don’t see ourselves ever paying to dine here. Of note, all visits are free on Jubilee; only the first visit is free on Mardi Gras and Celebration, with subsequent visits $8 each. Plus, we were honored to attend the ship’s naming ceremony with Godmother Gwen Stefani who rocked out the theater with her high-energy hits. There was confetti, champagne, and a silhouette of the ship cut from the steel and signed by everyone in attendance (how cool). A special plaque was also cut from the same piece of steel in recognition of Carnival’s 50th birthday. The first steel was cut for the Carnival Jubilee on March 18, 2022 with festivities taking place in Papenberg, Germany.
